SUMMARY:NETWORK Workshop: Collaborative Ministry - Bringing together leaders\, gifts and skills
DESCRIPTION:A virtual series for leaders and volunteers in Youth\, Young Adult\, and Family & Children Ministries \n \nCollaboration is a key element in helping youth ministry thrive\, but it takes intentional effort to do well. Whether you are connecting with new leaders\, or a new ministry\, collaboration can help you incorporate new gifts and skills into ministry and further the mission of the Gospel. We will review a practical understanding of what collaborative ministry is (and isn’t). We’ll explore how we can implement collaboration in our ministries by exploring the unique relationship between youth ministry and campus ministry in the Diocese of Charlottetown as a case study. \n  \nLauren van Vliet\, M.Div.\, \nDiocesan Youth Ministry Coordinator\, Diocese of Charlottetown (PEI) and Campus Minister\, University of Prince Edward Island \nLauren van Vliet has been involved in youth\, young adult\, and campus ministries in some capacity for over fifteen years. She is currently serving as the Diocesan Youth Ministry Coordinator for the Diocese of Charlottetown (PEI) and as a campus minister at the University of Prince Edward Island. Previously she served in parish youth ministry in Regina\, SK. She has a Master of Divinity from Regis College. In her free time\, she enjoys cooking with her husband\, writing YA fantasy novels\, and watching movies. \n  \nCost:  $15 CND \n  \n \n  \n  \n  \n \n  \n  \nThis Workshop series is part of NETWORK\, a program of leadership formation for youth\, young adult and family and children ministry offered by the Redemptorists of North America and Ignite Ministry. www.ignite-canada.ca

SUMMARY:NETWORK Workshop: Polarizing World & Church - Impact and Opportunities on Ministry with Young People Today
DESCRIPTION:A virtual series for leaders and volunteers in Youth\, Young Adult\, and Family & Children Ministries \nNote: This workshop has been rescheduled to Thursday Oct. 19\, 2023. \n \nWhat are we talking about when we use the word “polarization”? To live by the terms of polarization is to accept the perspective that there are only two poles to choose from\, and to allow ourselves to be driven to an “either/or” way of looking at ourselves\, society\, the world\, or the Church- the list could go on and on. This seems to have become more of an issue lately. It seems more and more challenging to bring together people together in respectful and honest dialogue and discernment. What examples from the life and ministry of Jesus might shed some light on this current experience? What values might need to be cultivated in order for us to build a world and a Church in which diversity is not a threat\, but a source of encounter and richness?  How can we build bridges\, rather than walls? Join us for a lively exploration of this topic. \nDr. Anne Walsh\, D. Min. \nRedemptorist Adult Faith Formation Team\, St. John’s\, NL \n \nAnne Walsh is a native of St. John’s\, Newfoundland and Labrador\, Canada. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education\, a Master’s in Religious Education\, a Diploma in Fine Arts\, a Canadian Certificate in Youth Ministry Studies and a Doctor of Ministry degree. \nAnne has worked in classroom teaching and teacher training and program support\, Campus Ministry\, Youth Ministry in Canada\, the US and Ireland\, and in Religious Education and Adult Faith Formation at the School Board\, Parish and Diocesan levels. She has served on the Advisory Committee for Adult Faith Formation for the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) since 2001\, and was the principal writer for On Good Soil\, the Canadian Bishops’ document on Adult Faith Formation. Anne is Chair of the Association of Canadian Catholic Association for Adult Faith Formation. \nAnne is a Lay Missionary of the Most Holy Redeemer. She is the Coordinator for Partnership in Mission for the Redemptorists of North America\, and is a member of the Redemptorist Adult Faith Formation Team for the Province of Canada\, as well as Chair of the Redemptorist General Commission for Partnership in Mission\, serving in the Office of Partnership in Mission for the CSsR\, and a member of the Redemptorist General Secretariat for Evangelization. \nCost:  $15 CND \n \n  \n  \n \n  \n  \nThis Workshop series is part of NETWORK\, a program of leadership formation for youth\, young adult and family and children ministry offered by the Redemptorists of North America and Ignite Ministry. http://www.ignite-canada.ca

SUMMARY:CANCELLED: Prayer and Worship: Creating Space for Meditative Prayer and Silence
DESCRIPTION:Thursday April 13\, 2023 \nCANCELLED – CHECK BACK IN THE FALL FOR THIS WORKSHOP! \nSt. Mother Teresa said\, “In the silence of the heart God speaks” – a simple reality\, but one that can be challenging to integrate into our busy\, distracted lives\, and oftentimes stressful lives. The songs and prayer of the monastic Community of Taizé have been embraced by Christians around the world. Many find it as a helpful pathway into emptying oneself\, to create the heart space to pray. This form of prayer weaves together simple repetitive chants\, scripture\, and moments of rich silence. In this workshop\, you will learn more about the prayer\, experience the prayer itself first-hand\, and engage in discussion about the ways to incorporate this form of prayer into your ministry with young people.  \n  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nPresenter: Janet Loo\, MA (Music) \nJanet Loo is a music minister and educator who currently serves as Campus Minister at King’s University College in London\, Ontario. Her main areas of responsibility are in music ministry\, liturgical facilitation\, and communication. She also teaches part-time at Western University’s Don Wright Faculty of Music in the Department of Music Education. Janet has been actively involved in music ministry leadership since 1995\, serving in the Archdiocese of Toronto and presently in the Diocese of London. She has a close connection with the prayer and music of the Community of Taizé\, having lived there and directed choirs in their community in France. Janet is an appointed member of the National Council for Liturgical Music and serves on the executive board of Canadian Catholic Campus Ministry. Janet holds a Master of Music degree from Western University and received additional training in liturgy and music through the National Association of Pastoral Musicians. Other than music\, her other passions are travelling\, cooking\, and baseball\, with an unwavering loyalty to the Toronto Blue Jays.

SUMMARY:NETWORK: From Parishioner to Disciple
DESCRIPTION:Thursday March 16\, 2023 \n7 pm – 9 pm Eastern or 7 pm – 9 pm Mountain \nJesus began his mission to the world by first calling ordinary men and women to become disciples.  What began on the shores of Galilee two thousand years ago continues today.  Our Lord is calling each of you to embrace your vocation as a disciple in today’s world.  How do you make the transition from “mere parishioner” to “committed disciple?”  \nThis will then be followed by a look at small Christian communities.  Jesus reminds us “where two or three are gathered in my name\, I am there.”  Small Christian groups have been pivotal in the re-energizing of faith communities around the world.  Fr. Ed will be introducing a resource ideal for small groups of disciples\, but also for individuals. The resource focuses on ten key themes for discipleship.  \n  \nREGISTER FOR THIS WORKSHOP\n  \n \nPresenter: Fr. Ed Eherer C.Ss.R.\, B.Ed.\, M.Div. \nFather Ed Eherer is a Redemptorist priest of the Province of Canada.  He grew up in northern Alberta\, the third of five children. He obtained his undergraduate degrees from the University of Alberta\, and an M.Div. from the University of Toronto.  In 1995\, Fr. Ed entered the Canadian Redemptorists and was ordained a priest in 2000.  Since joining\, he has worked in Toronto\, Sudbury\, Terrace BC\, St. Paul AB\, and Lima Ohio in the areas of parish ministry\, youth and young adult ministry\, and in formation and vocations for his religious congregation.  He is currently an associate pastor at St. Joseph’s parish in Grande Prairie AB.
