St. Alphonsus was convinced that they are already in the very heart of God’s concern for the ‘World’. St. Alphonsus offers us a rich spirituality of personal relationship with Jesus so that we come to ‘see with God’s eyes’ all those who experience abandonment\, hurt\, exclusion as our brothers and sisters – embraced in the ‘heart of God’. This helps us to respond with compassion and can sustain us over the long haul as we reach out to young people and others. \nFr. Michael Brehl\, C.Ss.R.\nAssociate Pastor\, St. Patrick’s Church\, Redemptorist Superior General Emeritus \nProfessed Redemptorist since 1976\, and ordained a priest in 1980\, Fr. Michael Brehl has served in parishes\, mission teams\, youth and young adult ministry\, as well as formation of young Redemptorists and leadership in the Congregation. Fr. Brehl has lived and ministered across Canada and the United States. Fr. Brehl just finished 13 years living in Rome and serving the world-wide Redemptorist Family in over 80 countries and five continents. Fr. SUMMARY:NETWORK Workshop: Living and Witnessing to Racial Justice
DESCRIPTION:A virtual series for leaders and volunteers in Youth\, Young Adult\, and Family & Children Ministries \n \nFather Maurice J. Nutt\, C.Ss.R. will examine the sin of racism in the church and society and offer insightful theological and practical ways of understanding race\, racial justice\, white supremacy\, black suffering\, and personal reconciliation and healing to begin the necessary process of dismantling racism within the church and society. This presentation will assist in our witnessing to a more humane and just world. \n  \nFr. Maurice Nutt\, C.Ss.R. \nRedemptorist\, Revival Preacher\, Retreat Director\, Writer & Lecturer \nRedemptorist Father Maurice J. Nutt holds a doctorate degree in preaching from Aquinas Institute of Theology. He has served as pastor in parishes in St. Louis and Memphis. He is a nationally noted retreat\, revival\, and parish mission preacher. Father Maurice is a former director of the Institute for Black Catholic Studies at Xavier University of Louisiana\, and a past convener of the Black Catholic Theological Symposium. Father Maurice serves as a doctoral thesis advisor in the Doctor of Ministry degree program in preaching as well as senior consultant for the Black preaching track in the Academy for the Mastery of Preaching at Aquinas Institute of Theology. He wrote an award-winning biography of his mentor\, Sister Thea Bowman\, FSPA\, titled\, Thea Bowman: Faithful and Free (Liturgical Press)\, and Down Deep in My Soul: An African American Catholic Theology of Preaching (Orbis Books). His latest book co-edited with Greg Heille\, O.P\, and Deborah Wilhem is Preaching Racial Justice (Orbis Books). Father Nutt is a member of the Redemptorists’ Denver Province Extraordinary Provincial Council and serves as a consultant of the cause for canonization of Sister Thea Bowman\, FSPA\, for the Diocese of Jackson. Father Maurice founded Copiosa Care\, a Redemptorist Spiritual Direction ministry in February 2021. In 2023\, Father Nutt was appointed interim director of the National Shrine of Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos. He was inducted into the 2022 Class of the prestigious Dr. Martin Luther King\, Jr. Board of Preachers at Morehouse College in Atlanta\, Georgia. Father Maurice is a proud life-member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity\, Inc. SUMMARY:NETWORK Workshop: The Challenges of Reconciliation in the Indigenous-Church Context
DESCRIPTION:A virtual series for leaders and volunteers in Youth\, Young Adult\, and Family & Children Ministries \nPope Francis\, as a first step of his journey on his penitential pilgrimage to Canada in the summer of 2022\, wanted to make space for memory. The Holy Father sought to recall the history and legacy of the Residential School System and the role of the Church in this piece of the colonial project. In making space for memory\, we will address some of the challenges to reconciliation in the Indigenous-Church context. We will also look to the words of Pope Francis and that of his predecessors to draw out the central tenants of our faith that call us to reconcile a relationship that has been deeply wounded. \nPresenter: Maria Lucas\, JD\, Hons.BA\, Indigenous Bar Association\n \nMaria Lucas has always had a strong interest in Indigenous-Crown relations and understands the important role that law plays in reconciling this relationship.  A lawyer with Goldblatt Partners\, supporting their Aboriginal law practice group\, Maria draws on her varied skill set\, that includes a substantive understanding of the complexities of Aboriginal law\, to assist clients in advancing and protecting their Indigenous and treaty rights. Maria undertakes this work all with a view to building greater space for the exercise of Indigenous self-determination.  Maria is a member of the Indigenous Bar Association. You will gain practical strategies\, tools\, and insights to navigate the digital landscape and effectively engage with youth and families through social media platforms. \nIsabel Correa\, MA Th \nSenior Director\, Evangelization and Christian Life\, Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Montreal \n Isabel Correa draws on 20 years of leadership experience in ministry with youth and young families. Her life’s mission is dedicated to the formation and evangelization of young people. She has a Masters Degree in Theology\, B.Ed from McGill University and a B.Sc. from Concordia University. DESCRIPTION:Winter Street Patrol is a program of St. Patrick’s Parish and Ignite Young Adult Ministry where groups walk the streets of downtown Toronto delivering lunch bags\, hot beverages\, clothing\, hot soup\, and hygiene supplies and company to our brothers and sisters who are living on the streets\, and/or experiencing life challenges from day to day. \nWinter Street Patrol runs roughly every second week.  Please see the registration information below to see the next available date. \nWe will assemble lunch bags and other supplies on site for participants to carry and distribute. \nPlease bring a backpack and be sure to dress according to the weather conditions. \n  \nWhen and Where to meet \nVolunteers are asked to gather in the hall (139 McCaul Street) by 3:30pm. Following an introduction to our night and gathering prayer\, the group will leave from our start point.  At the conclusion of the evening (up until 7pm)\, volunteers can leave from where they are enroute. \n  \nPRE-REGISTRATION is REQUIRED! \n\nRegistration is required to allow for proper planning\nRegistration is closed when the group reaches the maximum number of participants (15-20 people)\nIf your desired date is not listed\, then we have reached our capacity for the coming Sunday.  Please consider registering for another date.\n\nTO REGISTER FOR THIS DATE  \nor ANOTHER ONE OF THE DATES\,  \nvisit:   https://bit.ly/WinterStreetPatrol-Registration

DESCRIPTION:A virtual series for leaders and volunteers in Youth\, Young Adult\, and Family & Children Ministries \n \nIn these ever-changing times\, envisioning our ministries for young people – youth\, young adults\, and families and children can be a daunting task if we have struggled to provide leadership for sustained approaches to ministry.  Whether your parish is taking the opportunity to journey with NETWORK Leader Seminars or not you don’t know where to begin\, come and learn best practices\, skills and opportunities to IGNITE your pastoral vision for young people in your parish and community.  This workshop is geared to pastors\, religious\, and pastoral staff. \nFr. Santo Arrigo\, C.Ss.R.\, \nDirector of Ignite Ministry\n \n \nFr. Santo is a Redemptorist Priest currently serving as the Director of Ignite Ministry\, a program for Youth and Young Adults across North America\, based in Toronto.  He is a former member of the Redemptorist Youth Mission Team\, a graduate of the Canadian Certificate in Youth Ministry Studies\, and an adjust faculty member of the Canadian Certificate from 2007 to 2022. Over the years\, he has had a vast experience in Parish Youth Ministry\, with focus on leadership and team development\, Diocesan Youth Events\, Young Adult and Vocation Ministry as well Inner-City Ministry as Director of Out of the Cold..  He most recently served 8 years as Pastor of St. Patrick’s Church and the Shrine of Our Mother of Perpetual Help in Toronto while continuing a special outreach to families and young people in Toronto.  In his off time\, you might see him with a guitar in his hands\, tending the garden\, enjoying a movie with friends and being creative in the kitchen! \nCost:  $15 CND \n \n  \n  \n \n  \n  \nThis Workshop series is part of NETWORK\, a program of leadership formation for youth\, young adult and family and children ministry offered by the Redemptorists of North America and Ignite Ministry. www.ignite-canada.ca
