NETWORK Workshop: A Place at the Table – Sharing a Message of Good News with 2SLGBTQ+ Youth and Everyone

May 16, 2024 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm EDT

A virtual series for leaders and volunteers in Youth, Young Adult, and Family & Children Ministries.

Pope Francis has called for compassion for 2SLGBTQ+ people, and yet this does not always reflect the pastoral reality of our dioceses and parishes. Research has suggested that up to 40% of youth living on the street are 2SLGBTQ+ and suggested 2SLGBTQ+ youth are more than 4x more likely to attempt suicide than their peers. What is our pastoral response? How do we, in our diverse ministry contexts, build hospitable, respectful, and inclusive environments for those who identify as 2SLGBTQ+ (as well as everyone)? What practical steps can we take to build this bridge?

The session will address:

  • How do we begin to have conversations on this topic?
  • What path are we called to take as disciples and pastoral workers to help build bridges and defuse conflict?
  • Sociological insights into young people in 2023 and their development
